Your car's brake pads are responsible for creating the friction needed to stop your car. They make contact with the brake disc or drum and work to bring the wheel to a stop. But as time passes, the brake pads will wear thin, making it harder to slow your car down in a timely manner.

When you hear a high-pitched, continuous squeal while driving, it's important to have your brakes inspected, as it's often a sign that your brake pads have reached the end of their useful lifespan.
