Why Do Tires Blowout More In Summer?
What is a Tire Blowout?
A tire “blowout” is a general term used by drivers to describe a tire that bursts while driving accompanied by a rapid loss of air pressure. Blowouts can be a scary experience for even the most seasoned of drivers.
When is Blowout Season? Blowouts typically occur Mid-May through early October when the weather is hottest and motorists are traveling for work or holiday. The combination of increased travel, faster road speeds, and increased vehicle load, can push a neglected or injured tire beyond its breaking point.
Factors that can lead to blowouts:
- Low tire pressure or underinflated tires
- Weak spots in the tire wall
- Poor road conditions like potholes or pavement cracks
- Rapid changes in temperature
Preventing Blowouts. The best way to prevent a blow-out is to have your tires regularly checked by a BMW professional for cracks, bulges, or weak areas in the tire wall. Make sure to check your tire pressure and perform visual inspections regularly.
