When Was the Last Time Your Suspension Was Serviced?

Tires often become misaligned due to things like road conditions, driving habits, potholes and minor accidents.

However, as parts like the shocks, suspension springs, and other components start to grow old, they start to wear out and develop gaps or larger tolerances. Here are recommended timeframes to have your suspension and other key components serviced or replaced:

  • Shock Absorbers/Struts: At least 5 years or approximately 50,000 miles; up to 10 years.
  • Suspension Springs: Up to 10 years or about 100,000 miles.
  • Power-Steering Pump: Around 8 years or up to 80,000 miles.

The aging of these parts leads to loosened control in steering and a shift in wheel alignment. Even your Z4, only used for perfect summer days or your family’s X5, that isn’t used frequently, are susceptible to this kind of age-related wear to the suspension system.

Fortunately, regular and routine maintenance by our Certified Technicians on all your vehicles, leisure and commuter alike, can help prevent this cause of poor alignment.
